On October 18th, firefighter Pierre Lacroix lost his life in the line of duty. Together with his family, the SIM and the APM have made funeral arrangements. A wake will be held on October 28, and an official funeral service will take place the following day. See below for details.
Public health measures
The following public health directives will be in place in order to ensure that the ceremonies are held safely:
- The vaccine passport is mandatory in order to attend the ceremonies. A photo ID must be shown, along with the VaxiCode*.
- All participants will be entered into a register.
- Face coverings are mandatory at all times indoors and outdoors.
- Physical distancing of 1 metre must be maintained at all times between participants, both indoors and outdoors.
- Physical contact between participants is prohibited (e.g., hugs, handshakes).
* Participants from the United States must show a printed proof of vaccination.

Time: 1 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Place: Grand Quai du Port de Montréal (formerly known as Jetée Alexandra) located at 200, rue de la Commune Ouest, Montréal, QC H2Y 4B2
Room capacity : a maximum of 50 people at a time will be authorized inside the building.

The wake will be webcast from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. on the city’s YouTube account.
Procession
Date: Friday, October 29, 2021
Checkpoint opening: 7:30 a.m.
Checkpoint closure: 10 a.m.
Time of departure towards Notre-Dame basilica: 10:30 a.m.
Gathering and single access point: Intersection of Rue de la Commune and Rue Bonsecours
Identification of participants: Every participant will be assigned a colour bracelet associated with their group within the procession.
We strongly suggest using public transportation, as traffic will be heavy in the area. In support of the emergency services community, the Société de transport de Montréal (STM) will provide free transportation to uniformed persons.
Parking spaces may be available at the following locations:
- Palais des Congrès located at 1001, place Jean-Paul-Riopelle, Montréal, QC H2Z 1H5
- Complexe Chaussegros-de-Léry located at 303 Rue Notre Dame E, Montréal, QC H2Y 3Y8
The parking lot at Quai de L’horloge will not be open to participants. Please DO NOT go there.
Official funeral service
Due to public health restrictions in effect, only family members, fire fighters from fire station 64 and dignitaries may attend the funeral service.

Room capacity: A maximum of 250 will be authorized inside the basilica.
Live webcast
The funeral service will be webcast live on the YouTube account of Ville de Montréal starting at 11:30 a.m. Big screens set up at Place d’Armes will also allow 700 people to view the ceremony. Moreover, a hall will be configured at the Palais des Congrès for 3,000 people to watch the funeral service remotely, through webcast.
Recognition ceremony
Event reserved for participants who were assigned a bracelet.

Dress code for the funeral service of firefighter Pierre Lacroix
The following dress code is imposed:
- Double-buttoned tunic (for those who have one)
- Long-sleeved shirt with ranks
- Tie
- Dress trousers
- Black dress shoes
- Forge cap
- Leather jacket with ranks (For those who do not have a tunic)
The following articles of clothing are not authorized:
- Casual cap
- Bermuda
- Tuque
Decorations (Fire Services Exemplary Service Medal, military decorations, etc.) must be worn as established under the Canadian Orders, Decorations and Medals Directive on the tunic only (no decoration is permitted on the leather jacket). The commemorative ribbon must be worn above the decoration ribbon on the shirt, on the left side.
