The "buffalos" shared firefighters' passion for fighting fires. Most of these men, who would have liked to be firefighters but whose lives took another path, formed an association on September 10, 1944. From then on, auxiliary firefighters provided support to firefighters, bringing them coffee and comfort on site at fires. The auxiliary firefighters are in charge of the Montréal firefighters' museum.
