Survenu le 29 avril 1877, A fire at Oil Cabinet Novelty Works Company on April 29, 1877, was a tragedy for the Montréal fire department. There were 12 victims, including five firefighters, one department member, one waterworks employee and five civilians. The firefighters died trying to protect fellow firefighters as the building collapsed.
