Le Service de sécurité incendie de Montréal (SIM) and the l’Association des pompiers retraités de Montréal (APRM), will pay tribute to their deceased firefighters at a commemoration ceremony October 6 at the Cimetière Mont-Royal. This is the 125th year that the ceremony has been held.
The department’s chaplain, Bernard Vadnais, will officiate at the ceremony, which honours active and retired firefighters who died over the course of the past year. Families of deceased firefighters and all SIM partners are invited to the ceremony to honour the memory of those who died in service. The honourable Michel J. Doyon, lieutenant governor of Québec; Rosannie Filato, city councillor and executive committee member in charge of public safety; and senior managers of the SIM and APRM will be in attendance.
For the SIM, the ceremony is a way to pay tribute to its firefighters and honour their courage and devotion to the Montréal population.
