From May 25 to June 8 and from September 21 to October 5, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., 12 fire stations will be taking part in the event, offering Montrealers a range of activities designed to raise awareness of fire safety.

During the night of March 12 to 13, you will have to change the time on your clocks. Montréal’s fire department (SIM) would like to take this opportunity to remind Montrealers to check that their fire alarms are in good working order. Saving lives could be that simple!

The By-law concerning false fire alarms aims to reduce the number of avoidable false fire alarms. In case of an actual fire, these alarms must be taken very seriously.

Few people suspect that smartphones, tablets, laptop computers, or electrical scooters and bikes can actually start a fire.  

“The majority of fires are caused by human actions or manipulation,” stated Dany Lalancette, chief of operations with the Montréal fire department (SIM). 

For an 11t h consecutive year, Montréal’s fire department (SIM) will be deploying its smoke alarm brigade. Until the end of September, 45 students will be meeting with residents of various areas in the urban agglomeration of Montréal, to check the presence and proper working order of their smoke alarms.

Butthead, n.: someone who throws their cigarette butts anywhere. This seemingly harmless gesture may actually cause fires and is a source of pollution.

''A citizen had called 911 to report a fire burning uncontrollably in his kitchen, located in a ground-floor unit of a 42-unit apartment building.[...] The occupant of the apartment above, #302, did not have a smoke alarm. As the smoke was spreading throughout her apartment, she remained fast asleep.''

This year, even though gatherings are forbidden due to COVID-19, we must follow recommendations in order to stay safe during the Holidays.

Through December 24, firefighters invite you to give generously.

Since January, cigarette butts in flower pots and flower beds have caused more than 125 fires in Montréal and more than a million dollars and damages.

The brigade, which includes fire safety students, is visiting residents for the 11th consecutive year in order to promote these vital devices.

In preparation for potential flooding, the SIM have launched a flood prevention campaign.

The documentary "Femmes des casernes" will make its premiere at the Cinéma Cineplex Odeon in Montréal’s Quartier Latin neighbourhood on March 5 at 6 p.m. as part of “Rendez-vous Québec Cinéma.

Since 1988, Montréal’s firefighters have collected donations of gently used toys for Christmas baskets for needy families.
